Summary: Information about Javascript and how to enable it on your computer |
|
What is Javascript? Javascript is a scripting language that is embedded into webpages. It can be used to change areas of the page or perform actions when requested by the user. Is it safe? It is possible that someone may harm your PC using javascript. Most harmfull functions are blocked by default and the biggest threat is a coding error which may crash your browser. It is highly unlikely that this will ever happen. We at Spook Technologies check every script as we write it to ensure that any errors are removed before it is used by you. We also use a script error reporting system to log any script errors and prevent them from causing problems with your browser. What is it used for? On Spook Technologies the main function of Javascript is to submit forms. This includes registering and posting messages. We are also updating our site to make good use of AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript And XML) to change the content of some pages without re-loading the whole page. This means our pages will load faster and save bandwidth. How do I enable it? If your browser supports Javascript you can enable it from the options screen. Some browsers still do not support it. If yours does not then you can download one that does. We recomend 'Microsoft Internet Explorer' or 'Mozilla Firefox' What if I can't get it? If your browser does not support Javascript or you don't feel safe having it turned on then you can still view pages on our website but you will have limited functionality. If a page on our site requires javascript you will be notified by an error dialog and the page will not load. |
